the horse, and against his army. Ver. 20. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image: these both were cast alive into a lake of fire, burning with brimstone. VII. Promises to the Favour and Submission of Kings to the Kingdom of Christ. Is. xlix. 7. Thus saith the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom men despiseth, to him whom the nations abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee. Ver. 23. And kin kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and the queens thy nursing mothers; they shall bow down to thee with their faces toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord; for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me. Is. lii. 15. So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him; for that which had not been told them, shall they see; and that which they had not heard, shall they consider. Is. lx. 3. And the gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Ver. 10. And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee; for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee. Ver. 11. Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night, that men may bring unto thee the forces of the gentiles, and that their kings may be brought. Ver. 16. Thou shalt suck the milk of the gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings; and shalt know, that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. VIII. Promises of the Security, Tranquillity, and Prosperity of the Church. Is. iv. 5. And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud, and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence. Ver. 6. And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the day-time from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain. Is. liv. 14. In righteousness shalt thou be established: Thou shalt be far from oppression, for thou shalt not fear: and from terror, for it shall not come near thee. Ver. 15. Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee, shall fall for thy sake. Ver. 17. No weapon that is formed against thee, shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment, thou shak condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. Is. lxv. 18. Be ye glad, and rejoice for ever in that which I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. Ver. 19. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. Is. li. 3. The Lord will comfort Zion; he will comfort all her waste places, and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found, the sin thanksgiving and the voice of melody. Ps. ci. 13. Thou shalt arise, and have mer cy upon Zion; for the time to favour her, yea, the set time is come: Ver. 14. For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof. Ver. 16. When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. Is. lxvi. 10. Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her; rejoice for her with joy, all ye that mourn for her. Ver. 11. That ye may suck and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolation: that ye may milk out and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. Ver. 12. For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the gentiles like a flowing stream; then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. See Ver. 13, 14. Jer. xxxiii. 6. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely. Matt. xvi. 13. Upon this rock will I build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Dan. vii. 27. And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve him day and night. IX. Promises of the Perpetual Continuance of the Church. Is. lix. 21. As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord, my spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put into thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever. Is. xlvi. 22. For as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. Jer. xxxi. 35. Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea, when the waves thereof roar; the Lord of Hosts ir his name. Ver. 36. If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Ver. 37. Thus saith the Lord, if heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath; I will also cast off the seed of Israel, for all that they have done, saith the Lord. See Chap. xxxiii. 20, 21, 22, 25, 26. Dan. vii. 14. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. Matt. xxviii. 20. Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. X. Promises of the Conversion and Restoration of the Jews. Jer. xxx. 9. They shall serve the Lord their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them. Ver. 10. Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the Lord, neither be thou dismayed, O Israel; for lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest and quiet, and none shall make him afraid.
