rom Madrid, That Mr Keene, in an Audience he had of their Catholick Majefties, preffed the Acceptance of an Accommodation which the King of Great Britain had propofed for putting an End to all Differences. The King anfwer'd, That he was infinitely obliged to the K. of England A for the great Pains he had taken, and should always gratefully remember them; but was concerned to fay, he could not at present give his Britannrick Majefty the Satisfaction he defir'd, the Emperor's Refolution being come too late.

The K. of Sardinia, amongst other Motives, which induced him, in Conjunction with France, to declare War against the Em- B peror, alledges hisTies of Blood and Friendfhip to the French King; the Infult upon K. Stanislaus; many Acts of Injustice done by the Imperial Court, as well to himself, as to his late Father, K. Villor Amadeus, by Delays in fulfilling Treaties made in his Behalf, by fpiriting up Oppofition, and Contefts of every Kind against him, and by C fupporting the unjuft Pretensions of the State of Milan to certain Lands contiguous to his Eftates, defigning, as appears from the general Tendency of the Maxims of that Court, as foon as an Occafion fhould offer, to dethrone him without Relief. Having mentioned these and other Motives his Majefty promises an inviolable Union with D the Auguft Germannick Body, among whom he ranks himself.

From Italy, That the Citadel of Milan is blocked up that the French and Savoyards have inevited Pizzighitone, a strong Town in the Milanefe; Lodi, Pavia, Vigevano, Cremona, and the City of Milan are already in their Poffeffion; the Germans not having E Strength enough to maintain them. Novara and Tortona are blocked up.

The Viceroy of Naples is making all neceffary Difpofitions for the Defence of that Kingdom. The Court of Rome are perplexed about the Double Election in Poland, and feem determin'd to difoblige neither Party. The Venetians are refolv'd to F

obferve a ftrict Neutrality.

From the Hague, Nov. 13. That the Marquis de Fenelon, and the Deputies of the States, Signed the Act of Neutrality for the Auftrian Netherlands which the Marquis fent directly to Paris to be ratified. That their High-mightinefs have put an End to their Guardianship, declared the Prince of Orange G of Age, and ordain'd that he shall be put into immediate Poffeffion of his Domains, as well as the King of Pruffia, pursuant to the Treaty of Partition between his Majefty and his Highness.

The Emperor's Anfwer to the French King's Manifefto (See p. 553.) being very long we can only give the Purport of it, viz One H can hardly imagine a more frivolous Motive, than that which the Crown of France borrows of the Polish Election, openly to break the Peace, and commit Hoftilities against the Emperor and his Eftates in Italy; and to

perfuade the K. of Sardinia, treacherously to conclude an offenfive and defenfive Alliance with that Crown against his Imperial Majesty, at the very Time he was taking the Oaths of Fidelity for the Fiefs he poffeffes dependant of the Emperor, who had undertaken nothing against either of thofe Powers. The Entrance of the Ruffian Troops into Poland was the Plea France made Use of to threaten, that tho his Imperial Majefty's Troops fhould not enter Poland, the would nevertheless declare War against him, because he was in good Intelligence with the Czarina, and because her Majefty will not recall her Troops and give up her Right of Guarantee to the Acts of the Dyet 1717. whereby Stanislaus was profcrib'd and declar'd for ever ineligible. His Imperial Majefty after obferving, that he had not caufed one Single Soldier to enter Poland to this Day, nor taken the leaft Step which might draw upon him the Reproach of Hoftilities. and, on the contrary, how the Conftitution of Poland had been violated by France and the Primate, leaves it to the Princes of the Empire to confider whether France has not been the Aggreffor; and fo relies on the Affiftance of the Holy Empire, his Faithful Allies, the Juftice of his Caufe, and the Divine Protection.

From Germany, That the Campaign being at an End on the Rhine, the French Army was retired into Winter Quarters; and that the Electors of Bavaria and Cologn, had declared for a Neutrality.

The Method of proceeding in the new Court of Record at Savannah in Georgia, when any of the People die there without Friends:
