GENERAL ORDERS.

Fort William, June 5.-The Governor General in Council adverting to the present posture of affairs on the Eastern and Chittagong frontier, the importance of the command, and consequent necessity for the presence, in that quarter, of a General Officer to superintend the military operations, is pleased to separate what at present is termed the North-Eastern and Chittagong Frontier, including Titalyah and Kissengunge, from the Dinapore and Presidency Divisions, and to form them into a separate Division, to be designated the Eastern Division of the Army. Dacca to be the Head-quarters' station of the Eastern Division, where all Reports and Returns from Dependent Stations and Outposts' Corps and Departments are to be transmitted. An additional permanent Brigade Major is authorized for the duties of the Eastern Division.

General Staff.

Fort William, May 27, 1824.-The following allowances are fixed for a Colonel, when employed on the General Staff of the Army, exclusive of regimental pay:
