Any person who writes is a writer; a penman is an expert, clever, or fine writer; a scribe is a writer who copies officially. WRITER, one who represents ideas by written characters. AUTHOR, [auctor, L.] one who composes an original work. An author is a writer, but a writer is not always an author; an author is an original writer; but a writer may be only a compiler. YEARLY, [gear, a course, S.] comprehending a year; happening every year. ANNUAL, [annalis, of a year, L.] that returns every year. Yearly course; annual rent.
