The proceffion did not reach the Abbey till half past four o'clock. Upon entering, it was received by the Clergy, and conducted to the grave, in the North Tranfept, where the fervice was performed in the ufual manner. The grave of Mr. Fox, in Weftminfter Abbey, is immediately adjoining the monument of the late Lord Chatham, and within 18 inches of the grave of Mr. Pitt. At his houfe near Colchester, James Ward, efq. a lieutenant in the royal navy; he was one of the few remaining companions of the immortal Cooke, and was defending him when he received his death wound in the South Seas. In his early life Mr. Ward's cha racter ft od high in the eftimation of his profesional friends; he was a brave intelligent officer; but the hardships he fuffered in his voyage with Cooke destroyed his constitution, which prevented him from following the profeffion, in which he was calculated to do honour to himtelf and to the navy. 30. At Brighton, the Right Honorable William Henry Fortescue, earl of Clermont, vilcount and baron Clermont, of Clermont, of the county of Louth, knight of St. Patrick, and governor of the county of Monaghan, Ireland. His Lordship was created a viscount in 1770, with emainder to his brother, the late Right Hon. James Forteicue, of Ravenidale, county of Louth, and his heirs; and, in 1777, earl of Clermont. His lordship, in the year 1752, married Mits Murray, eldest daughter, and co-heirels with Lady Rofimore and Mrs. Wettenra, of colonel Murray, by Mary, only daughter and heirefs of Sir Alexander Cairns, Bart. and widow of Cadwallader, the feventh Lord Blayney, who furvives his lordhip. was the father of the turf. His lordship is fucceeded in his titles and eftates by his nephew, William Charles Fortescue, efq. who married, in 1804, Margaret, daughter of Sir John Meredith, bart. On the 28th of Julyat, at Messina, Lieutenant-Colonel Johnitene, of the 58th regiment, after an ilinels of ten days, of a fever, brought on by exceffive tatigue whilt in Calabria. He was an officer of great experience, 38 years of age, had ferved 23 years in various climates, was wounded in the Welt Indies; and, at the battle of Alexandria, being Major of the 44th, took the command of that regiment in the field, on Lieutenant-Colonel Ogilvy being killed, and Colonel (now General) Tifon being wounded.
