We are extremely obliged to the Gentleman who figns himself "A CONSTANT READER," for the attention with which he has perufed our preceding volumes, the corrections that he has made, and the improvements that he has fuggefted. We are happy to find that our efforts have created an intereft in his mind, and in those of a number of others who have favoured us with their obfervations. It is equally our defire and our duty to make this Magazine, which already stands fo high in the favour of the Public, as deferving of it as poffible; therefore they may be affured that their hints fhall be attended to.-N. B. The Catalogue of PORTRAITS, Views, &c. is already printed on the jame paper as the Work, and may be had of Mr. Afperne . Our Sprightly Correfpondent EVE merits our gravest acknowledgments: but we would ask her, what we have to do with the fhrinking of invisible petticoats? Her Breaft Works, we freely contets, we are afraid to attack; and as to the Breast Fleet, (if it will exifts,) it is quite out of our latitude. We thank the author of "THE STUDENT" for his favour; but he must be aware of the impropriety of beginning a periodical publication at the clofe of a Votume... The Union of Contemplation and Aion in our next. The Lines addreed to a Friend, however they might please in a private circle, are by no means calculated for the wider range of a Magazine. The Efay on Ambition, The Drapier, Letter III, A Newtonian, and G. W. T. on the Defire of Pleaping, will all (if poflible) be inferted in our next. We have to apologize to our much valued Correfpondent, the author of Anecdotes relative to Civil Hiftory, Laws, Religion, &c. &c.; but the fact is, that his favour did not arrive until every part of this Number was crowded, and feveral valuable pieces poftponed. His thall be inferted in our next. To our pretical Correfpondents we must obferve that we have confiderable obligations. Sir Bertrand, a Fragment, shall be interted; but, on account of its length, we cannot pr mile it for the next Number. For the Meditations in a Country Ale house, the Letter and Verses refpecting the Death of Lunardi, Horace, Ode XIII, and a great number of Imaller pieces, we will endea vour to find room as foon as poffible.
