The long and faithful services of

CHRISTOPHE ANTOINE,

A native of France,

An honest, zealous, grateful, and pious man, who died at Holland House, Kensington, on the 29th of November, 1812,

in the 55th year of his age.

This stone is erected

over his mortal remains,

which in compliance with his wishes

are deposited near those of the Countefs of Gand

His former mistress

whose memory he cherished for many years after her decease,

having followed her fortunes in exile

and facrificed

to his fense of gratitude and duty

the savings of his industry,

the profpect of competence and ease,

and the hopes of worldly advancement.

Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of His Sardinian Majesty at this court.

A nobleman in whom the ardent Zeal of the Patriot and the deep Science of the Statesman were happily united

with a refined sense of honor, an engaging suavity of

manners,

a generous disregard to his private interest, and the vast assemblage of all the virtues which adorn the Christian.

He was for some time Minister Plenipotentiary for the King of France in Sweden. After the seizure of Louis, he fled to this country, where he became involved in much pecuniary distress, subsisting chiefly upon the bounty of some liberal friends.
