Sacred to the Memory of

Lieut. THOMAS ROBERT KIRSTEIN,
Lieut. in the 30th Regiment of Foot,
Who departed this life Nov. 30th, 1831,
Aged 22.

In Memory of

Mr. CHARLES HENRY SEYMOUR,
of this Parish,

Who departed this life
December the 14th, 1833,

in the 26th year of his age.

Ah! 'twas thine to will an early tomb,

And snatch thy prey ere manhood fix'd his bloom.
Yet, yet he lives-and now can smile at fate,
Who changed an earthly for a heavenly state.

[blocks in formation]

SARAH POLLARD,
Departed this life August 26th, 1835,
Aged 63 years.

The Lord's all-seeing, eye surveys

Our secret thoughts, our works and ways,

He chastens with affliction's rod,

And summons back our souls to God.

Sacred

to the Memory of

JOHN KING,

Died May 13th, 1834, aged 40 years.
Altho' worn down with illness great,
With piercing pains, he was resigned,
To what Heaven ordained him to partake.
Reluctant throbbings rose within his mind,
Whene'er he viewed his faithful wife,
His wish returned for length of life.

In Memory of

CHARLES WILSON,

A native of Burton, near Lincoln,

Who died on the 11th of Sept", 1835, aged 30.
Death with his Dart has pierced my Heart,
When I was in my Prime;

Mourn not for me, my dearest Friends,
'Twas God's appointed time.

A steady Friend to truth, a Soul sincere,

In Dealings strictly just, in Conscience clear;

He walk'd with God, Peace among men maintain'd, A Love to both has in his Saviour reign'd.

Captain JAMES PHILIP MAYER,
60th Regiment,

Who departed this life Feby 22nd, 1847, aged 86 years.
Greatly lamented by a sincere and affectionate friend.

Sacred

to the Memory of

Mrs. ANN POWELL,

Who died on the 12th of Jan3, 1835,
Aged 56.

Few joys in this vain world I've found,
But rest my hope above:

That we shall meet where sorrows cease,
And join in heavenly love.

Mrs. BERRY,

Died Dec 30th, 1840,

Aged 34.

Oh! could I awaken the chords of my lyre, My heart strings would give out its tone; She is gone, the beloved companion of years And I am left (think reader) alone.

SARAH HOWLETT,

Died Dec 20th, 1840,
Aged 58.

Reader, survey the ground you tread,
Think! it's the region of the dead;
Ask! are you ready to obey

The call that summon'd me away?

Mrs. SHEARSBY,

Died March 12th, 1842,

Aged 51 years.

A kind and loving mother I have been,

And many troubles I have seen;

And in this world I have strove to do my best;
And here I have lain me down to rest.

JAMES CHARROTT,
Died May 1st, 1843,
Aged 26 years.

Ye living men, survey this tomb,
Where you must quickly dwell;
Hark how the awful summons sounds,
In every funeral knell.
